I think you didn't understand what I meant by 2nd point. I said instead of fearing God go and live your life peacefully.
That reference to holy books was purely referential. It meant that all religious says God is kind and forgives.

Nice post. Like the 5th point.

BTW, "visiting places" or "temples" (in my case) is purely scientific.

2 reasons :

1) There are many negative-minded people. So, to change their thoughts, it's written that they should meditate by chanting few mantra (to focus their thoughts).
But they still don't do it. That's why we have a routine which "forces" people to go to a common (holy) place (atleast out of fear of getting sinned), and concentrate your thoughts in praying to God.

2) The idols kept in temples (especially those temples which are really really old), have huge amount of herbs below them. Visiting such places at least has 1% effect in improving the health.

One more thing, the 2nd point I've mentioned might be funny to many, but it's not necessary that you should know everything to believe in them. If you feel that this point is interesting, then go and study Vedas instead of just ignoring it by laughing on it.

The bad part is that we need someone to fear, so that we can be civilised. :(

Nice observations. For me god is nothing but an artificial fear factor injected into mortal brains, just to force them to live in a healthy and mannered way. If people are taught that this is the only life you have, there is nothing called afterlife and there wont be any reviews of your sins after you die(Which is reality), then all will become desperate and situation will be unmanageable. So even though your observations are absolutely correct, god is required for a healthy society. And animal sacrifice? lets not opine here ;)
