After two days of complete rest

Its quite late at night right now (1:17 AM). How terrible would be feel to have classes right from 8AM in the morning after enjoying two days of full-days off ! On Wednesday there was only one class from 8-9AM, which i left and from 9AM was the brain-storming lab sessional of first half of B2. At that time we-”so called lucky guys” were enjoying our sleep.

Today was Karnataka Rajyotsav Day. Its a local festival and an official holiday. Thanks God! We had our classes from 8AM to 5PM today. Just saved.

Tragedy starts tomorrow. We have 4 classes from 8AM and assignments in all 4 classes. What a misery !! Enjoyed 2 days off and a queue of assignments pending. Well life goes on.

I am desperately waiting for the cricket match between India and Pakistan to start on 5th of this month at Guwahati.  Younis has been made vice-captain and they came without Asif. I will miss the first innings as the match is scheduled to start at 9AM.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS!!!

The men in blue did it. Lifting the first Twenty20 World Cup is a feat in itself. The team comprised of only junior players and Dhoni as the captain. I never expected India to win at the start of the tournament, though Dhoni proved his captaincy. The match was very very exciting right from the first ball. India showed relatively poor performance in their innings but who knew that the bowlers would also prove their might. Uthappa’s dismissed Imran Nazir in a fantastic run out. This was one of the important wickets to stop the player who had scored 33 off 28 ball and was on fire!! What more to say? Am speechless! Spell bound. Only one word comes on my mouth -”CHAK DE INDIA”

Kangaroos Kicked Out

Some great news! India has entered the finals of Twenty20 world cup cricket. Beating Australia in the semis, the way has been paved to face Pakistan in the finals. The semi was a history in itself, who thought that Australia will be kicked out the tournament? There was a situation in the middle of the match that every one thought that Aussies have made their way in the finals. Harbhajan’s wicket was the turning point. After that Aussies batsman fell apart like a skyscraper hit by earthquake.

Yuvraj was in form again as usual. Hit 70 off just 30 balls. 5 Sixes!! 5 Fours!! Excellent play. He even set the world record of the longest six- 119m. He even set the record of second fastest half-century off 20 balls. Great work youngster! Keep it up.

India will face Pakistan tomorrow at 5:30PM IST. The match gonna be highly exciting. Pakistan had lost to India in this tournament in Bowl Out. They shall be in a mood to hit back. Be Careful Dhoni and Yuvraj-its your time to show your reliability and mettle too.

Six Sixes…

The last two days have been days of glory for Indian Team. Yesterday was India’s match with England! What more to say, Yuvraj’s 6 sixes of an over was the most cherished and loved one. He has surely taken the revenge, remember he gave 5 sixes off an over? Yuvraj even scored the fastest half-century- 50 off 12 balls, pretty tough to break. I have even downloaded the video from Youtube.

Today was India’s match with South Africa. The fielding shown up the Indian was superb. Hats off to you. Who knew that India-who badly needed to win this match to make its position further, not only won but even stopped South Africa whom everybody had thought to qualify. Next match with India is on Saturday with Australia, which is the main hurdle.Team India today really showed up a fighting spirit to stop SA, fielding was excellent. RP Singh run out where he sent back Boucher to pavilion was a classic example. Two stump out by Kartik are rare example that too in Harbhajan’s ball. Stump out are rare even today. I wish best of Luck for the Semis. :)

At the height of excitement

If you are a true cricket fan and you missed yesterday’s India-Pakistan 20-20 match in world cup, you are the most unluckiest person on earth. What an excellent game! Excitement was alive till the last moment, the match was such that Pakistan took the match out of India’s hand and at the last crucial moment gave it back. This was the first time I saw the tie-breaker system introduced in cricket though it had already been used earlier.

The most interesting was the last over of Pakistan innings. They needed 12 off the last over, and 5 out of 3 balls, only to see the next ball find it way to boundry. Match tied! 1 run off 2 balls! One dot ball and a run-out, match tied. Pakistanies was surely in tension which showed clearly at the bowl out. India win bowl out as 3-0. Adrenalin was pumping heavily in my bloods throughout the match. A fantastic finish! Next match is tomorrow against New Zealand. India has qualified in its pool. Best of Luck Team India.

The birth of a New Hero- Uthappa

Who said miracles do not have any place in this tech era? Well our Team in Blue showed proved it false. I never ever thought of winning by chasing a whooping 316 and losing 5 wickets having an excellent start. Sachin as usual was in blaster mood, hit a 94 falling just 6 runs short of his century. Maybe luck is not favoring him, as far as i know, this is his 16th century miss. Oh! What a bad luck!

Yesterday’s match is incomplete without the mention of yesterday’s hero- RV Uthappa, the guy who hit 47 off 33 balls steering India to victory. His 8 fours were the most interesting, the last two fours were the winning shots. India needed 10 runs of the last over. Uthappa in form showed up the real fight, wickets went on falling but he stood unshaken from the pitch.

Its a time for Dravid to relax, it was his decision to give the last over to Yuvraj in the England innings. That was a major blunder, that over was : 0-6-6-6-6-6 . What beautiful numbers! Series is leveled 3-3. Next match is on 8th September at Lords. Whenever I remember Lords, the Natwest series comes in my mind. Remember Yuvraj chased a nearly impossible 316 score which made him a national hero? Remember one more thing? Saurav Ganguly took off his shirt and revolved it in extreme joy. Some golden moments remembered and cherished.

Robin Uthappa

Rakshabandhan and “The Edge”

First of all a Happy Rakshabandan to all of you! May be bond of trust and love between brother and sister last ever! Oops! One more news, till now I havnt received all the rakhis! One of my sis had sent it two weeks back by speed post, still its undelivered :-( One more rakhi missing sent through speed post but posted only a week back. Bad Luck!

Between, India lost badly to the English team, though Ganguly and Dravid showed up a good fight, still we lost by 42 runs. England is leading this 7 match series by 2-1. If India truly wants to come back, it should win the next match at Manchester on 30th August. Good Luck Team India!

Today at night, “The Edge” is gonna rock. One of my class friend Rahul has invited me to his bday party. Dance, music and excellent food will be center of attraction. I havnt went to Edge before but heard a lot about it. Three of them are giving the combined party. So we can hope of getting a view of girls from EnC ;)
Finally before concluding I would like to disclose that tomorrow is my birthday! I know that the bumps are going to be really hard. Have to be prepared, atleast mentally (physically I cant help). Its a bad luck that my friends are more excited about my birthday than myself. I can only hope that they get tired of dancing in Rahul’s bday party and may get less bumps

99 and back to pavilion?

Yesterday the world witnessed one of the worst umpiring decisions. Sachin was playing an excellent game and the crowd was cheering at its heights. Balls passed by and Sachin came to a score of 99, only one run short of his century. He tried to leave Andew Flintoff ’s ball which had attained height after bouncing. But what a luck! The ball hit his arm guard and went straight to Prior. The players appealed and the deadly finger showed up. Sachin was awe-struck. He looked quite baffled. The disappointed batsman showed that the ball hit his arm-guard and left for the pavilion.

Even Yuvraj Singh who played well after Sachin returned back did not have his luck favored. He also had leave on the score of 49, that is one run short of his half-century. Dravid who was still on the crease showed off an excellent game and took away the man of the match title. Dravid was not able to make his century due to shortage of overs left. India finally finished at a whooping score of 329. It was difficult enough to be chased.

Though England didnt manage to chase the target, the thing that disturbed most was that the tailenders played quite well. Mascarenhas hit 5 sixes and a four in 39 balls to complete his half-century before being dismissed by Agarkar. Finally all congrats to Team India for their excellent performance. You can still improve. Best of Luck for your 3rd One Day match on 27th August at Birminghum.

Finally Online!

Sorry people for being offline for more than 2 weeks. Actually my college has started and I had to leave for Manipal on 26th. I had applied for getting my private Airtel internet connection shifted to my new block. My college intervened and stopped Airtel from giving any connections in any hostel blocks. Actually they too have a horrible internet service (that’s also not free). You pay some 500/60 bucks only to find your p2p networks and orkut blocked. When am paying so much, i have the right to p2p networks. If college blocks explicit materials, it can be understood, but why orkut blocked? If the service was free, its easy to understand. Nobody can accept this form of censor on a paid service.

After a long discussion Airtel was allowed but this time they did not bring the discounted student special plan which makes Airtel a bit costly. I smell something wrong. Looks like Airtel was allowed to enter the blocks on the condition that they would keep their services costly. No matter how costly it may be, students first choice is always Airtel.

Between, yesterday Jumbo  was in full form. Hit his maiden century and today took 2 wickets before lunch, the England score now stands to 124/4. Come on Jumbo. U rock!
