Desktop upgrade

Though I have a two and a half years old laptop which still runs smooth, this is not the case with the desktop at home. It was bought eight years back on 14th Nov,2000 on Children’s Day and has gone though only one major upgrade, which too was not completely major.

Initially the system was Celeron 500Mhz processor, 64MB RAM, 15GB HDD, Studioworks LG 425V monitor with a CD driver. Somewhere in I thought of an upgrade which resulted in a desktop configuration of AMD Sempron, VIA motherboard and 256MB RAM which was still being used till last week.

That meant enough of troubles handling this old configuration and frequent crashing scnearios. The Hard Disk had enogh of bad sectors to drive us crazy losing much information. Finally I decided to shell out some hard cash and upgrade this own faithful beast which stood by me all the time.

Latest config:

  • AMD Phenom X3 Processor: Features | Review
  • Asus M2N68-AM Motherboard: Features | Review
  • nVidia GeForce 7050PV/ nForce 630a Graphics chipset
  • Transcend 1GB DDR2 RAM
  • Hitachi 160GB SATA HDD
